Hello Everyone sorry I haven't been around much lately, will try to participate more.
I've just asked Mr Google about units in wine and it really is down to what percentage the wine is. I've just read that if it is 12% then its 9 units per bottle, 14% is ten per bottle.
Since my last post about wine on here I have seen my specialist nurse and I did ask her about drinking wine. I like wine and this RA's taken alot of me from me and I didn't want it to claim something else so I wanted to know exactly how I stood on what amount I could drink. Now what she told me and I am not going to say is OK for everyone, she obviously seen my blood results and she was advising me.
I asked if I could save up my units and have more on certain days, she said 'Yes I could have a good drink if I wanted too, but not to do it everyday.' I asked what she described as a 'good drink', she said a bottle of wine (I did ask if I could have it in writing

). She then added that if a blood result showed up that my liver wasn't working well, I would have to tell the truth that I had been drinking, then I would be told to stop and then see what the following blood result would be. I must admit that I have drunk on some occasions more than what is advised in my MTX book since she gave me this advice and I have no problems yet.
I have googled what blood test results for liver function should be and from what I read it should be below 40, mine is in the low 20's.
I also along time ago read somewhere that the normal recommended units per day for men and women is just a figure that someone plucked out of thin air and there is no medical evidence to back it up.
